A letter from the Club Coaching Team

Dear Member,

I am writing to you to introduce Danielle Hock and myself, Brendan McGuire, as the freshly appointed coaching team at Ormskirk Tennis Club.

Danielle has competed at both national and international level. She is currently the Lancashire Triple crown Senior Champion and has represented the county for over ten years. Her first ever tournament was at Ormskirk so she has many fond memories!

Having been successful in gaining a tennis scholarship into Marshall University West Virginia, she was rewarded with a BA in Sports Management. On leaving university she briefly worked with IBM in the match analysis department at the Wimbledon Championships.

Danielle then joined the coaching team at South Ribble Tennis Centre and has worked with all ages and standards of player, ranging from junior and adult beginner level through to more advanced levels within clubs and national/international level with the juniors. She is an LTA Licenced CCA coach and also holds a refereeing licence.

I have been teaching tennis for nearly twenty five years. Following gaining a Biochemistry degree from Sheffield University I decided to embark on a coaching career in tennis.

This started for six years at the Hallamshire Tennis club in Sheffield, followed by roles as LTA County coach for Nottinghamshire, Director of Racquets for a leading leisure group, followed by most recently, a twelve year spell as Head Coach at South Ribble Tennis Centre. I have been fortunate to gain experience in coaching at all levels of play ranging from beginner through to grand slam junior level and currently coaching our very own Nicola George who is competing on the ITF Womens Circuit.

As a player, I competed for over ten years for Lancashire at group 1 level. I am a fully licensed LTA PCA Coach.

This successful proven coaching combination of Danielle and myself are so excited to be joining Ormskirk in September.

Our goal is to offer every member of the club plentiful opportunities to develop their tennis. This could be in the form of individual or group coaching, match-play or fun/social sessions. Whatever the tennis needs of all our members, we will do our utmost to provide the best product possible.

Before we can do this and structure the ideal club programme for all, Danielle and I are very keen to meet all members of the club individually on court for a free fun half hour session, whereby we can hit a few balls, have a chat and gain your thoughts as to what you would like in your weekly tennis programme.

Our aim is to see as many members as possible through August and early September, with a view to initiating the coaching programme in early September.

We would be grateful if you could please email either Danielle or myself and list your availability through August, indicating specific weeks, days, daytime or evening etc when you would be available to meet up.

Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to meeting you soon.

Kind Regards

Brendan and Danielle
